Known Issues: Norton (Symantec) false positive. When attempting to download & install from www.avagotech.com, Norton 360 (antivirus software) removes the installation program from the download and says it contains the WS.Reputation.1 virus. This does not mean Norton has detected a virus. Norton uses an internal "reputation based" data base of programs as part of their virus protection scheme, and if it encounters a program unknown to Norton, it summarily quarantines it, even if it is not a virus.

Operating system incompatibility or out-of-date Windows Installer software. AppCAD has been verified to install and run on these operating systems: • Windows 2000 Professional • Windows XP • Windows NT 4 with Service Pack 6 (SP6) or later • Windows 98 • Windows 95 - Windows 95 version 4.00.950c or later Make sure you have installed the latest Windows Service Packs (a.k.a., bug fixes) from Microsoft. Windows updates are available from:
Error in the Windows Installer software that performs file extraction. This is a known error for Windows NT as of Service Pack 6 which requires Service Pack 6a to fix the problem, and Windows 2000 as of Service Pack 1 which requires Service Pack 2 to fix the problem.
If upgrading from an older version of AppCAD, the older files should be automatically overwritten with new files. However, it may be useful to uninstall any previous versions before re-installing the new one.

The program will automatically download and install FreeDOS onto your device, just run it and select FreeDOS from the Distribution drop down menu. Follow that by selecting the USB drive in the Type and Drive drop down menus, and clicking the OK button. UNetbootin will start to download FreeDOS from SourceForge and then install it onto your USB flash drive.
In some ways, this is another obvious choice. Chromium OS is the operating system that Google's ChromeOS is based on and is available to download for free. It's also suitable for installation on aging hardware.
For example, if you are downloading the JDK installer for 64-bit systems for update 18 Interim 0, Update 0, and Patch 0, then the file name jdk-18.interim.update.patch_windows-x64_bin.exe becomes jdk-18_windows-x64_bin.exe.
You can also locate your current BIOS while in Windows. Press Window Key+R to access the "RUN" command window. Then type "msinfo32" to bring up your computer's System Information log. Your current BIOS version will be listed under "BIOS Version/Date". Now you can download your motherboard's latest BIOS update and update utility from the manufacturer's website. The update utility is often part of the download package from the manufacturer. If not, then check with your hardware provider. If one is not available, you can still use the USB stick to update your BIOS in an UEFI environment, if such is a feature of your motherboard.
Take the BIOS update you downloaded from the manufacturer's website and place it on the USB stick. Leave the stick plugged in to your computer and then restart the system. Upon restart, enter the BIOS again using the method above. Use the boards UEFI interface to navigate to the board's BIOS update section usually dubbed "EZ-Flash," "M-Flash" or the like. Once started, you will be asked to navigate to the BIOS file. Select your USB stick and follow the onscreen instructions to complete your BIOS update.
Take the updated BIOS version and BIOS update utility you downloaded from the manufacturer's website and copy them to the newly bootable USB stick. Leave the USB stick plugged in to the computer. Then restart the system. Press or hold F11 as the system restarts. This will take you to the Boot Selection where you can set a boot device. Make sure you set your bootable USB stick as your boot device and then press .
For help getting started, see the online documentation in the wiki. You need to provide your own game IWAD. If you do not have a copy of a doom-engine game, the easiest way to obtain them is to purchase them from Steam or GOG. When you download them from either of these stores, ZDoom will automatically find them.
ZDoom supports using FluidSynth for MIDI playback. To use it, extract libfluidsynth.dll to the same directory as zdoom.exe and then configure it from within ZDoom. FluidSynth is bundled with GZDoom since v3.1.0, so this separate download is only useful for older versions.
ZDoom supports using TiMidity++ for MIDI playback. To use it, extract timidity.exe and timidity.cfg and read the instructions. TiMidity++ has become an internal player integrated within GZDoom since v3.3.0, so this separate download is only useful for older versions.
A DETH-based editor for ZDoom that runs in a DOS box. Comes with minimal documentation. If you don't already know how to use DETH, you should go find a good tutorial that explains it. If you plan on doing any ACS scripting, you should be sure to also download ACC below.
